YouTube Premium option will be launched for all users

Technology

The YouTube announced that the “picture-in-picture” mode will be available to all users of the video app. It is worth remembering that this feature was, until then, exclusive to Premium plan subscribers.

YouTube’s “picture-in-picture” mode allows you, in practice, to continue watching a video even when the application is not open in the foreground.

To activate the functionality, simply swipe the screen from the bottom up or press the cell phone’s Home button while a video is being played. This generates a reduced version of the video, which is “floating” on the screen, allowing the user to open and use other applications at the same time.

As the website Engadget highlights, this mode was initially launched in Premium for Android in 2018 and for iOS in 2021. It will now be made available to all users in the coming months.

It is important to note that users of the free version of “picture-in-picture” will not be able to use it to watch music videos — this possibility will continue to be exclusive to YouTube Premium subscribers.
