The Rio de Janeiro court ruled in favor of singer and composer Chico Buarque in a lawsuit filed against Meta, the company responsible for Facebook and Instagram. The case involves the release of a video created with artificial intelligence that used the song “Cálice” without authorization.
According to the action, the content showed the minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), Alexandre de Moraes, portrayed as a dictator, with Chico Buarque’s song in the background. The artist alleged copyright infringement and requested the immediate removal of the material, in addition to the identification of those responsible for publishing it.
The decision was handed down by judge Mario Cunha Olinto Filho, from the 2nd Civil Court of Barra da Tijuca, in Rio de Janeiro. Meta has already taken the video down and also provided information that can help identify the administrators of the pages that shared the content.
In the sentence, the judge also ordered the company to adopt preventive measures to prevent the circulation of similar content in the future.
With the identification of those responsible, the case may evolve into new individual legal actions against those involved in publishing the video.
