The White House has announced the cavalcade of CEOs President Trump is taking to China, and besides Tim Cook, it includes just about everyone you’d expect.
President Donald Trump is heading to Beijing to discuss trade with President Xi Jinping, and he’s not planning on doing it alone. As he’s done in the past, the president has rounded up a collection of CEOs to bring along.
Apple’s own outbound CEO, Tim Cook, is one of the sixteen picked, according to a list seen by The New York Times. Tesla and SpaceX’s Elon Musk is also expected to join.
The other executives rounding out the roster include:

- Citi, Jane Fraser
- Coherent, Jim Anderson
- GE Aerospace, Larry Culp
- Goldman Sachs, David Solomon
- Illumina, Jacob Thaysen
- Mastercard, Michael Miebach
- Meta, Dina Powell McCormick
- Micron, Sanjay Mehrotra
- Qualcomm, Cristiano Amon
- Visa, Ryan McInerney
This is the first visit to China of a sitting president in nine years. The trip will last from May 13 to May 15.
Cook’s attendance is likely multifaceted. As outgoing CEO, we anticipate that we’ll see these kinds of events increase before his departure on September 1.
It’s also strategic from a business sense. The last time Cook didn’t attend, it may have resulted in a special tariff just for iPhones back in May 2025.
Cook, known by Trump as Tim Apple, has had a strained relationship with the president at best. There have been times when Trump has lashed out at Cook, specifically, while other times he’s had nothing but endless praise for him.
