Xbox has officially announced the postponement of “Fable”, the new chapter in the traditional RPG and fantasy franchise. The game, which was expected for 2026, will now only be released in February 2027.

According to the company, the decision was taken to better organize the release calendar and avoid competition with some of the most anticipated titles in the coming months.

In a statement, Xbox highlighted that the second half of 2026 will be marked by major premieres, including “Halo: Campaign Evolved”, “Gears of War: E-Day”, “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4”, “Control Resonant”, “Star Wars: Galactic Racer” and “Grand Theft Auto VI”.

Behind the scenes in the industry, the expectation is that the release of “GTA VI”, scheduled for November 19, 2026, will have a bearing on the decision. Rockstar’s new game is considered one of the most anticipated releases in the history of video games and has led several companies to reorganize their schedules to avoid directly competing for players’ attention.

With the change, Microsoft hopes to give “Fable” more space to stand out when it hits the market. The game is being developed for Xbox Series X|S, PC and PlayStation 5.

“To best plan our releases during the holiday season and ensure that each game gets the attention it deserves, we have decided to postpone ‘Fable’ until February 2027,” said Xbox.

Despite the postponement, the expectation is that news about the project will be presented in the coming days. Microsoft is holding the Xbox Games Showcase 2026 on June 7, an event in which it usually reveals trailers, new details and release dates for its main games.

The presentation will be broadcast live on official Xbox social media channels. For the Brazilian public, the event starts at 2pm (Brasília time).
