Retroid was in the news at the end of June with the launch of the Pocket Nova, its new emulation portable that takes aim at retro games from the PS2 era and comes in a veritable collection of color options. And now the company is taking advantage of its moment in the spotlight to confirm that it is already working on another device of this type, this time with two screens.
In one of the posts promoting the Pocket Nova on its social networks, Retroid was asked about its progress on a dual-screen device. Responding to the user, the company directly stated: “second half of the year”.
Basically, the company confirms the launch of a two-screen device for emulation in the second half of 2026. This type of design is popular for players who want to emulate the Nintendo DS and 3DS, but has fewer options in the segment.
Retroid can compete with Ayn Thor
The Ayn Thor may be the most well-known device to fulfill the role of portable emulation of the Nintendo DS and 3DS. The device, however, targets a more premium market, featuring Snapdragon 865 and 8 Gen 2 processors and two 6” 120Hz OLED screens.
Therefore, the device is not among the cheapest, and has undergone a new price adjustment recently, now offering options that start at US$259 (R$1,338) and go up to US$579 (R$ 2,992).
Retroid, then, has the opportunity to offer a more affordable alternative, but still with the two-screen experience. Since the company already promotes the Pocket Nova based on its “cost x benefit”, it seems to be a plausible possibility.
