EBC special shows the strength of the bioeconomy in Lower Amazonas

Emphasis

The work developed by small bioeconomy businesses in the Lower Amazon will be presented to the public across the country in a special series produced by Empresa Brasil de Comunicação (EBC), the result of a press trip carried out in partnership with Sebrae in the region of Santarém, Alter do Chão and Belterra, in western Pará. The program begins this Monday (6), at 11pm, with the airing of the edition “Bioeconomy in the heart of the Amazon”, on the program Caminhos da Reportagem, on TV Brasil.

The production shows how the bioeconomy has been transforming the reality of communities and small entrepreneurs in the Amazon by combining environmental conservation, traditional knowledge, science and innovation. During the expedition, the team visited experiences supported by Sebrae that strengthen sustainable production chains, boost community-based tourism, encourage innovative businesses and generate income by keeping the forest standing.

The bioeconomy is not an agenda for the future, it is a necessity for the present. Whoever manages to connect science, innovation and traditional knowledge will be building the foundations of a new development model, based on the vocations of the territories. The path lies in bioactives, generating market and entrepreneurship opportunities for those who have always lived and protected this territory.

Bruno Quick, technical director at Sebrae

The invited journalists learned about ventures supported by Sebrae that represent different expressions of the Amazon bioeconomy. Among them are Boto Gelato, Mahá Biocosméticos, Amélias da Amazônia, Viveiro Florestal Ardosa, Pousada do Mingote and Casa do Eltom. The initiatives show how the appreciation of socio-biodiversity, combined with innovation and entrepreneurship, generates income, strengthens local communities and contributes to keeping the forest standing.

Special coverage will also be present on the news program Repórter Brasil Noitewhich airs at 7pm, with a series of reports on the main initiatives visited during the expedition. The content will also be adapted for Rádio Nacional, expanding the reach of the stories to different platforms.

In addition to TV and radio programming, Agência Brasil will publish special reports delving into topics related to the bioeconomy, sustainable entrepreneurship and opportunities for economic development in the Amazon. The coverage is part of a joint effort to give visibility to experiences that demonstrate the region’s potential as a reference in innovation based on socio-biodiversity.
