Although Capcom has been able to release Resident Evil games at a frequent pace in recent years, it has been forced to set aside some of the franchise’s more experimental side chapters. In X, he stated that during the RE Engine era of the franchise, the developer found itself unable to release titles like Revelations and Chronicles. Thus, its leadership decided to bring some of the characteristics that the spin-offs had into the expansions it offers to the public.
According to Dusk Golem, The results of this strategy will be seen in the Resident Evil Requiem DLCwhich Capcom has already said it is working on. It promises to have a similar length to the Separate Ways story from the Resident Evil 4 remake and will feature some elements that the company considers to be more experimental.
Resident Evil series promises considerable expansions
The insider states that, due to the change in the way the company works, the Requiem expansion may take a while to launch. He even believes that there is a real possibility that the additional content will only reach stores after the release of the Resident Evil Veronica remake.
The title remains without an official date, but many believe it could hit stores in the first few months of 2027. In recent years, Capcom has always taken advantage of the first half of the year to bring new chapters of the franchise to stores — but has never chosen just one specific month to do this.
It is expected that more details about the future of Resident Evil, including Veronica and the Requiem DLC, will be revealed soon. The Japanese developer should be present at both Gamescom 2026, which starts on August 3rd, and Tokyo Game Show, scheduled for September 17th.
