This week, Lenovo launched the Legion R9000P, its new gaming notebook. Although the device is part of the Legion brand, its initial publicity is focused entirely on the screen, as this is the first domestic notebook using an OLED panel made using TCL’s inkjet printing technology.
TCL calls the panel IJP OLED, an acronym for InkJet-Printed OLED. The company has been talking about the technology for some time, with the promise of delivering the same quality as traditional manufacturing methods, but saving on production costs. This could result in cheaper products for consumers, but Lenovo has not yet discussed suggested prices for the Legion R9000P.
The notebook’s screen is 16″, offering up to 240Hz refresh rate. The manufacturer promises coverage of up to 99% of the DCI-P3 color range and the panel operates with a pixel arrangement called Real RGB Stripe. In this case, the RGB pixels are placed side by side instead of using triangle layouts more common in other OLED screens.
The promise of this arrangement is to reduce color distortion in details of interface elements and offer more text clarity, indicating that this could be a Legion that Lenovo will promote more for daily use than games.

Details are still scarce for the Lenovo Legion R9000P
Since the Legion R9000P debuts a new OLED panel manufacturing technology, its first announcement was entirely focused on the screen. We still don’t have details about its processor and memory capabilities that Lenovo intends to offer.

We will probably have a better idea about the IJP OLED’s image quality after the product’s launch, with third-party tests comparing the notebook to traditional OLED panels. The big question before the debut will be around the price of the R9000P, to see if the Lenovo notebook will raise hopes of finally seeing a considerable difference in the value of products with this type of screen.
