Everything starts from somewhere and, in this case, the beginning is already promising, despite the performance still leaving something to be desired: the Russian manufacturer PRO Hi-Tech revealed the performance of Irtysh C632 chip during the ExpoElectronica 2026held in Moscow.
The processor, based on chinese architecture LoongArchrotated The Witcher 3 with rates between 22 and 32 frames per second (FPS) in configuration Ultraand between 25 and 38 FPS in configuration Low.
The demonstration used athe AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT graphics card and operating system Linux with the translation layer Steam, Proton and Box64.
What differentiates the Irtysh chip architecture
The demonstration in ExpoElectronica 2026 exposed a relevant technical scenario: the execution of a game originally compiled for x86 over a completely different architecture depends on layers of binary translation.
In the test conducted by PRO Hi-Techthe operating system Linux rotated the Steam with the tool Protonwhich in turn triggered the Box64 to convert to the x86 instructions in real time for the whole LoongArch. This process adds overhead to the processor.

The relationship between frame rate and graphics setting
THE small variation of performance between graphics settings Low and Ultra indicates that the limiting factor of the demonstration it wasn’t on the video card (in other words: very strong CPU bottleneck).

The architecture LoongArch it was not made with a focus on games, making the presence of these chips in conventional gaming computers unlikely.
THE demo with The Witcher 3 serves as proof of concept for the maturity of the binary translation layer and for the viability of running x86 software outside the traditional ecosystem of architectures.
THE event in Russia signals the interest of local manufacturers in expanding the use of technologies based on LoongArchespecially in a context of diversification of semiconductor suppliers.
THE model C664 represents the next level of this product line and should increase the presence of Chinese architecture in markets seeking alternatives to the x86 and to ARM for information technology infrastructure.
