New interface should organize list with currently active users and those who have used the application recently.
According to the website WABetaInfo and 9To5Mac the new feature is available in the testing (beta) version of the iPhone application. The new feature will function as a kind of “contact center”, making it easier to start new conversations with those who are already available.
How the new center will work
According to beta logs, the new screen will be integrated into the app’s settings and intelligently divided for easier navigation:
- Favorite contacts: displayed at the top of the page for quick access.
- Online now: a dedicated list with all the friends who have the app open at that moment.
- Recently active: showing people who used the platform recently, even if they weren’t online at the exact second.

Privacy guaranteed
For those concerned about exposure, a fundamental point: the platform’s current privacy rules must be fully maintained.
WhatsApp will only let you see others’ activity status if you also keep your “online” visible. In other words, if you chose to hide your status in the privacy settings, the new center will not show your contacts’ information.
When does it arrive?
The feature is still in the development phase and has not been officially released even to most beta testers. As WhatsApp tends to adopt a very cautious and gradual release schedule, there is still no official date for the new feature to reach the final version of the application.
