AI chips drive results
Samsung attributed the record performance of the memory division to the strategy of meeting the growing demand for servers focused on artificial intelligence (AI) in advance.
The company stated that this movement allowed it to achieve the highest sales volumes ever recorded for memories DRAM and NAND.
In addition, the company reported that it has increased sales of high-bandwidth memory HBM4 and sent the first samples of HBM4E for large clients in the sector.
Company expects strong demand in the second half
For the second half of the year, Samsung expects demand for memories to remain high, especially for server applications, supported by investments in AI infrastructure.
The company also expects the broader adoption of AI agents to continue driving investments in technology infrastructure.
In this scenario, the manufacturer projects growth in demand for memories DRAM for servers, drives eSSD and family solutions HBM.
Last week, Samsung introduced its new line of foldable smartphones and announced the expansion of its strategic collaboration with Broadcom.
The partnership involves memory and semiconductor manufacturing technologies, areas considered strategic for the company’s expansion in the artificial intelligence market.
Competitor also records record profit
South Korean rival SK Hynix also reported a record profit in the second quarter this Wednesday (29). However, the result was below analysts’ expectations, which led the company’s shares to fall almost 10%.
