Tomb Raider Catalyst, the game with an original Lara Croft adventure confirmed for after the Legacy of Atlantis remake, has been postponed to 2028. The information is now official, and comes from an interview with one of the Amazon Games executives for the website The Game Business.
“We announced the two Tomb Raider games. Atlantis arrives on February 12th of next year, and then we will continue in 2028 with the next one”, said Jeffrey Gattis, from Amazon Games. “We’re excited about them. There are some other AAA things in various stages of discussion right now.”
Crystal Dynamics and Amazon Games revealed both Catalyst and Legacy of Atlantis together during The Game Awards 2025 last December. Legacy of Atlantis is a remake of the first game in the franchise, which at the same time readjusts the story to transform the game into a continuation of the “Survivor trilogy”.
The game was promised for 2026 in the official announcement, and then came the Catalyst trailer, placing Lara Croft in a completely new game, scheduled for 2027.
With the postponement of Legacy of Atlantis, it was expected that Tomb Raider Catalyst would also go ahead. But the information was not accompanied by a more precise window for its launch.
Amazon Games hopes Tomb Raider will help promote Luna
In the same interview, Gattis commented a little about Amazon’s new strategy for games, and how he expects large franchises to help bring more players to the Luna service.

“Ultimately, we want to build an identity with Luna, where we will have a portfolio of content that resonates with people, where they think ‘oh wow, this is the place that has Tomb Raider, and maybe Bond, and they have these other things’. And that takes time to build”, declared the production company’s executive.
Gattis concludes by saying that the platform that Amazon hopes Luna will one day become necessarily needs original content.
