Apple has announced a new Apple Education Center in Hanoi, which aims to train employees in the growing number of Vietnamese manufacturing firms supplying the company.
The new center is the latest investment from Apple’s Supplier Employee Development fund, which was founded in 2022 with an initial $50 million. So far that program has reportedly trained over 108,000 supplier employees, and now Apple has announced an expansion of the training in Vietnam.
“At Apple, we bring the spirit of innovation into every employee support activity of the global supply chain,” said Sarah Chandler, Apple’s Vice President of Supply Chain and Environment Innovation (in translation). “We are very excited to expand educational training courses in Vietnam, giving thousands of workers the opportunity to train important skills and discover new opportunities for career development.”
The new development consists of both more courses on site with suppliers, and a dedicated Apple Education Center. That center is being built in partnership with the Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), and will run classes from the fall.
“As the leading technical university in the country, Hanoi University of Science and Technology is always a pioneer in university — business cooperation to improve the efficiency of scientific research and talent training for cutting-edge technology majors,” Professor Doctor Le Anh Tuan, Director of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, said. “With Apple Education Center, we will work with Apple to promote training programs, with the goal of building and consolidating high-quality technology human resources for Vietnam.”
Apple has also announced an expansion of its existing vocational training for the disabled in Vietnam. This has so far seen 49,000 supplier employees from over 70 facilities, and also aims to train companies in creating better working environments for everyone.
Vietnam’s importance to Apple
In 2025, Vietnam benefited from Apple moving production of the M5 Apple Vision Pro and away from China. The country is also the second largest assembler of the Apple Watch, plus it assembles most iPads.
Vietnam is also rumored to be chiefly where Apple will produce its expected Home Hub.
