Anthropic holds meeting with US government to address restrictions on the export of artificial intelligence (AI) models

The Anthropic is racing to resolve its latest conflict with the US government. United Statesmeeting with authorities and sending, over the weekend, its main technical experts to Washington in search of an agreement to end export restrictions on its models of artificial intelligence (AI) more powerful, according to the The Wall Street Journal.

In a statement released on Friday (12), Anthropic reported that the US government, citing national security officials, issued an export control directive to suspend all access to Fable 5 and to Mythos 5 by any foreign citizen, inside or outside the United States, including foreign employees of the company itself.

As a consequence of this order, the company abruptly disabled Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all customers in order to ensure compliance. Access to all other Anthropic models has not been affected, according to the company.

Anthropic said it disagrees with the discovery of a possible security vulnerability. jailbreakeven if limited, should be a reason to recall a commercial model implemented for hundreds of millions of people.

“If this standard were applied industry-wide, we believe it would essentially bring all new model implementations by all major model vendors to a halt,” the company noted.

Anthropic said it has implemented robust security measures that significantly reduce the likelihood of Fable being misused for cybersecurity (among other) tasks. “In fact, our security measures are so strong that many users have complained that they are excessively comprehensive”, highlighted the company.

Also according to the company, in the weeks leading up to the launch of Fable, Anthropic worked with the US government, the UK’s AISI, several third-party private organizations and internal teams to carry out intrusion tests on Fable’s security measures, totaling thousands of hours.

“These tests demonstrated that Fable’s security measures are substantially more effective than those of any previously implemented model,” he said.

The difference between Fable and Mythos is in the control mechanisms. Claude Fable 5 is the most advanced generative artificial intelligence model that excels in software engineering, scientific research and autonomous reasoning, operating with greater efficiency than previous AIs on long, detailed tasks.
