Apple may resume partnership with Intel to supply chips

Business Technology

DAfter years of investing in the development of its own chips, Apple can once again rely on Intel as a supplier. According to The Wall Street Journal, the two companies have reached a “preliminary agreement” for the manufacturer to return to producing components for the Cupertino giant.

There is still no confirmation on which Apple products would use Intel chips, and the publication itself states that the details of the agreement remain undefined.

The possible partnership comes amid a scenario of challenges in the supply chain. Apple is looking for alternatives to the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), its current main supplier, and has even talked to Samsung about a possible collaboration.

If the agreement with Intel is confirmed, it comes at a time when the industry is facing difficulties in supplying components, which already impacts costs, as in the case of RAM memory, and could result in higher prices for consumers.

The former director of Whatsapp in Brazil Daniela da Silva launched the NGO CTRL+Z to denounce ‘big techs’ and change the relationship of fear that, according to Lusa, users have towards Internet giants.
