The Apple is expected to present its first foldable iPhone in September, during the traditional event in which the company usually reveals the main launches for the second half of the year. The model, treated behind the scenes as the iPhone Fold or iPhone Ultra, is already raising expectations among fans of the brand, but may reach the market in limited quantities.
According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, known for anticipating information about Apple products, the device’s initial availability should be restricted due to challenges in the mass production phase.
Kuo stated on the social network
The expected price is high. According to the analyst, the foldable model could cost between US$2,300 and US$2,500. Because of limited supply, he believes that some units can be resold for 50% to 100% above the official price.
Despite possible restrictions on launch, a forecast from Nikkei Asia indicates that Apple would have ordered 10 million units of the device, signaling confidence in the market’s interest.
Information circulating about the model points to a 7.76-inch internal screen, 5.4-inch external screen, A20 Pro processor, 12 GB of RAM and 5,500 mAh battery.
Apple’s arrival in the segment should also impact the prices of foldable cell phones. A report from Counterpoint Research points out that the first foldable iPhone could help increase the average value of this type of device.
According to the consultancy, the average price of foldable cell phones should reach US$1,485 in 2026, an increase of 18% compared to 2025 and 29% compared to 2024.
Counterpoint assesses that the foldable market has been divided between more accessible models, in the “clamshell” format, and more expensive devices, in the “book” style. The foldable iPhone should enter the premium segment, with estimates ranging between US$2,500 and US$3,000.
For the consultancy, Apple’s entry should keep the market’s attention at the highest price range and reinforce interest in productivity, software continuity and application support on foldable screens.
