Lords of the Fallen 2 reveals new gameplay, katanas and unreleased details after Summer Game Fest

The CI Games released a new episode of the behind-the-scenes series Lifting the Veil, delving deeper into the details presented in the “Battle for Thorngar” trailer, shown during Summer Game Fest 2026.

The video features more than two minutes of unprecedented gameplay from Lords of the Fallen 2revealing new weapons, bosses, biomes and improvements based on community feedback.

Furthermore, the developer confirmed that the game will also be released on Steam, joining the versions already announced for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and Epic Games Store.

Katanas debut as a new class of weapons

One of the highlights of the presentation was the first full demonstration of the katana-based weapon class.

According to the development team, the new combat style was designed to offer faster and more technical confrontations, prioritizing precision, movement and fluid attacks.

CI Games claims that the katanas will maintain the franchise’s signature brutality, but with a more agile approach compared to the heavy swords and traditional weapons seen in the first game.

New kingdom inspired by Japan will be explorable

The video also showcased one of the game’s new biomes. Called Yisugenthe scenario is strongly inspired by Japanese culture and promises to bring a distinct visual identity within the dark universe of the series.

Although few details about the region have been released, the developer highlighted that the location will have its own architecture, exclusive enemies and specific challenges related to the narrative.

Scion is one of the new bosses revealed

Among the bosses shown in the material is Sciona disturbing angelic creature that quickly caught the community’s attention.

The entity has multiple limbs and enormous wings formed from severed arms, combining elements of beauty and horror characteristic of the franchise’s artistic direction.

According to the developers, the confrontation was created to cause visual discomfort and require constant adaptation from players during the battle.

Umbral Kingdom will receive improvements

CI Games also commented on the changes underway for the Umbral Realm, one of the series’ core mechanics.

After the last episode of Lifting the Veil, the team received several suggestions from the community and decided to make adjustments to make the dimension of the dead more dynamic.

According to the game director, James Lowethe challenge is to find the balance between a dead and decaying environment without compromising the feeling of activity and constant threat.

The intention is to make Umbral more alive, maintaining its macabre identity.

Dismemberment system will be expanded

Another new feature presented was the evolution of the combat system. Lords of the Fallen 2 will introduce a more detailed dismemberment system, allowing you to maim enemies during battles.

Additionally, new executions were developed to make clashes more visually impactful. CI Games states that the goal is to create more visceral combat without sacrificing the fluidity of the animations.

Cooperation will have shared progression

The studio reinforced that cooperative mode will continue to be one of the pillars of the experience.

Among the confirmed features are:

  • Progression shared between players;
  • Integrated cooperative campaign;
  • Adjustments requested by the community;
  • Improvements to the multiplayer experience.

The proposal is to allow friends to advance together through the adventure without losing individual progress.

Character building will be more flexible

The team also highlighted that the sequel will offer even more options for character customization.

Players will be able to combine:

  • Different classes of weapons;
  • Varied combat styles;
  • Armor sets;
  • Advanced visual options;
  • Builds focused on magic or physical combat.

According to CI Games, the freedom to create the ideal Lampbearer will be significantly expanded compared to the previous title.

History will have multiple endings

Just like in the first game, decisions made throughout the campaign will directly influence the fate of the world. The player’s choices will affect both the realm of the living, known as Axiom, and the dark realm of the dead, Umbral.

The developer promises multiple endings and significant narrative consequences for each journey.

Launch will take place in 2026

Currently under development, Lords of the Fallen 2 It is scheduled to be launched in the second half of 2026.

The RPG will continue the story of the universe presented in the first title, setting players around a thousand years after the fall of the demonic god Adyr.
