A modder known as DryxioGTA managed to transform GTA 3 into a playable game within GTA San Andreas. A TV was inserted in Grove Street with the game, and players just need to take CJ to it and switch control with the F10 to have an experience as if the protagonist of San Andreas was playing GTA 3.
The games run at the same time in the mod. Thus, it can be considered realistic that street activity in San Andreas continues to occur while CJ takes a break to play another GTA. In the same way, if the player wants to go out in San Andreas, the world of GTA 3 on the small TV will continue running.
But the mod doesn’t stop there. A few days after publishing the video above, DryxioGTA added another layer to the project and made GTA Vice City playable within GTA 3, which is within GTA SA. Like a Russian doll or that movie Inception.
Interestingly, Vice City came out after GTA 3, so Claude controlled by CJ is playing a game “from the future”. And all three games continue to run simultaneously.
GTA San Andreas modder makes his projects available on Discord
DryxioGTA offers its projects on the website GTAStuff and through its dedicated channel on Discord. At the time of this publication, however, GTA 3 playable in San Andreas with Vice City playable within GTA 3 have not yet appeared for download on the pages, so anyone interested will have to keep an eye on the next updates.

The mod is obviously more intended as a curiosity than something that directly impacts the experience of playing GTA SA. But it still serves as yet another reminder of the exponential advances in game processing, with current hardware being able to run three GTAs from the past at the same time.
Maybe it’s worth revisiting classics while GTA 6 is still some way away from its release.
