During the opening of Summer Game Fest 2026, Capcom surprised many fans by announcing Resident Evil Veronica, a remake of Code Veronica. The trailer released by the company revealed several excerpts that are not available in the original game and a first-person perspective — that will not be adopted by the adventure.

After the game was officially revealed, the popular and controversial insider Dusk Golem — who insisted for months on the game’s existence — shared more details. He states that the experience will follow the path of other remakes of the franchise and will deliver a completely third-person perspective.

He also stated that Resident Evil Veronica could be one of the most disruptive projects Capcom has done in the past. In X, he stated that the intense action scene that marked the beginning of the original game has not been deletedbut will be shown at a later point in the remake.

What to expect from Resident Evil Veronica?

Also on X, Dusk Golem stated that Capcom could change the way players interact with Rockfort Islandwhich is the stage for most of the game. According to him, the title should incorporate semi-open exploration sections in which Claire Redfield travels using a motorcycle.

He also confirmed that the updated version of the game will start in Paris, the city that houses an Umbrella laboratory. This is also the location that Claire travels to in hopes of finding her brother, Chris, after surviving the events of Raccoon City. However, what she doesn’t know is that they are both targeted by the corporation.

The insider claims that Resident Evil Veronica will maintain the sections in Antarctica, and that the RE Engine technology has been updated to reproduce its snowy scenes. He also explained that Capcom will mix elements from the original version of the game and Code Veronica Xwhich made some changes to the narrative and composition of certain scenes.

In addition to Claire Redfield, the original version of the game also allowed you to play with Chris Redfield and Steve Burnside at certain times. It is not yet clear how the remake will deal with these sections, but the developer should reveal more details of what it is preparing in a matter of short time.
