Metrô-DF reinforces security with high-tech drone and AI resources

A.I Emphasis

The Metro-DF reinforced the security system with the acquisition of a high-tech drone, capable of expanding monitoring and carrying out surveillance and infrastructure inspection operations. The equipment, capable of operating in the dark and with artificial intelligence will be used both in surveillance actions and in infrastructure inspection.

Acquired through a parliamentary amendment of the district deputy Max Maciel (Psol) the DJI Matrice 4T drone model aims to strengthen the actions of the Operational Security Corps (CSO). The expectation is that the technology will increase the capacity for preventive and overt inspection, contributing to greater safety in public transport.

Among the equipment’s main differences are the possibility of day and night flight, a high-resolution thermal camera, long-range zoom and sensors that allow operation even in places with poor lighting. With these resources, it will be possible to identify people, vehicles and objects in real time, in addition to acting with greater precision in risk situations.

Another relevant feature is the presence of integrated spotlights and speakers, which allow direct communication with users in restricted areas, facilitating quick guidance in emergency situations.

Currently, Metrô-DF has eight professionals qualified to operate the equipment, which has an autonomy of around 35 minutes of flight and can reach speeds of up to 75 km/h. The aircraft is registered with National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) and follows all current safety and operating standards.
