The WhatsApp is working on a new feature in its mobile app, which will allow users to know when they have received a message in an individual conversation or in groups.

According to the WABetaInfo website, WhatsApp is preparing to introduce “bubble” notifications, which will be displayed at the top of the screen as soon as the message is received. The publication says that this functionality is being tested on the Android version of WhatsApp.

The notification will include not only the contact’s name, but also their profile photo. When you click on this photo, a compact version of the app will be displayed, allowing you to read the latest messages and respond without leaving the other app you are using and without having to go directly to WhatsApp.

“The functionality will be particularly useful in situations where users have to multitask without interrupting what they are doing”can be read on WABetaInfo. “For example, someone may be watching a video. When the WhatsApp bubble appears, it will allow them to quickly open the conversation without leaving the current screen. This will make it easier to respond as users can respond instantly and see the latest messages shared in the conversation. Instead of constantly switching between the current app and WhatsApp, users will be able to handle conversations without leaving the app they are using at the time”.

It is important to highlight that this functionality is still being tested and is not available in the beta version of WhatsApp, so it is not known when it will reach the final version of the messaging app. Even so, the WABetaInfo website has already managed to share images (below) that allow you to know what it will be like to use these new notifications.

Although it is being tested on the Android version of WhatsApp, it is believed that this new feature will also be available on the iPhone app.
