3DMark update adds native support for Windows on ARM in several tests

UL Benchmarks recently released the newest update for 3DMark, one of the most used synthetic performance testing tools in the world. The update brings the program to your version 2.32.8871 and introduces support for Windows on ARM in a test suite.

The main highlight of the update is support for the platform in the Speed ​​Way and Port Royal tests. Both are focused on ray tracing, with Speed ​​Way targeting DirectX 12 Ultimate work and Port Royal more specifically on ray tracing in the API.

In addition to them, the 3DMark update also adds specific feature tests to Windows on ARM. They are:

  • mesh shader
  • Sampler Feedback
  • DirectX Raytracing
  • PCI Express
  • VRS

In addition to the support coming to the test battery, the update brings some features focused on the platform. One of them is an indicator for the Windows interface that can be activated by the user to show when a benchmark is running natively or via x64 emulation.

3DMark prepares for the arrival of RTX Spark

Microsoft has been promoting the use of Windows on ARM architecture since the debut of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X SoCs. But it was at the beginning of this month that we had the official announcement of NVIDIA’s new RTX Spark processors, and the 3DMark update seems like a response to their arrival.

Previously known as N1 and N1x, the RTX Spark are positioned as an ARM alternative that will still be able to run games on Windows. 3DMark is a benchmark mainly focused on GPUs, so it makes sense for the update to arrive now, preparing the ground for the arrival of the first notebooks equipped with the new NVIDIA chip.
