ASRock announced this week a new ATX motherboard, the B550 Rock WiFi. As indicated by the chipset, the launch is based on the AM4 socket, which completes 10 years of availability in 2026. The new board model is scheduled for launch first in Japan, on June 26th.
The ASRock B550 Rock WiFi has a 10-phase design and offers 4 DIMM slots, supporting up to 128GB of RAM. As the name suggests, it is compatible with wireless connection, offering Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth, in addition to the traditional 2.5G LAN connection, via cable.
This is not a high-end card, so it sticks to PCIe 4.0 as the interface, both on the GPU and on the SSD slots. We have a PCIe 4.0 x16 port for video cards and a Hyper M.2 for the SSD. Drives can also be installed in a second PCIe 3.0 x4 slot and a third PCIe 3.0 x2 slot.
In terms of I/O connectivity, we can see four USB-A 3.2 and three USB-A 2.0 ports, accompanied by a single USB-C. The board also offers HDMI output and traditional analog Line-In, Line-Out and Mic audio connections.
ASRock B550 Rock WiFi arrives in the same week as the Ryzen 7 5800X3D
The longevity of the AM4 socket has proven to be extraordinary – so much so that AMD itself decided to bring a Ryzen 7 5800X3D back, in an edition commemorating the platform’s 10th anniversary. The processor makes its official debut on June 25th, so it should be no coincidence that the B550 Rock WiFi arrives the next day.

The AM4’s long life cannot be attributed solely to its popularity however. Helping the socket to remain relevant is the price crisis in hardware components that has made upgrades somewhat prohibitive for most people, especially having to go from DDR4 to DDR5 memories.
For now, ASRock intends to launch its new card only in Japan, for a suggested price of ¥16,980, which is approximately R$542 at the current price.
