The President of the United States, Donald Trump, said this Thursday (18) that Apple has agreed to work together with Intel to design and produce processors in the country.

“The technology the world depends on was invented in America. We all remember ‘Intel Inside,'” said the American leader, who accused “stupid” predecessors of letting “Taiwan and others steal our semiconductor factories.”

“They forgot to protect our industries with TARIFFS. When I won my second term (actually, my third!), it became clear that America needed its semiconductor industry to return to the US,” Trump continued, in a post on the Truth Social network.

In the effort to revive the sector’s industry, the president stated that he had already convinced Nvidia to produce “first level” processors with Intel and businessman Elon Musk to install a TerraFab factory in the United States, also with help from Intel.

“And finally, Apple agreed to work with Intel to design and build its chips in America,” said Trump, recalling that the American government took a 10% stake in Intel last year, which would have seen the company’s market value jump by more than US$500 billion in nine months.

In May, Intel and Apple had already announced a preliminary agreement to manufacture semiconductors in the United States and, on Tuesday, the 16th, Intel announced the production of a new model of chips.
