The Google announced the launch of two new applications for Windows and Mac computers. In the case of the Microsoft system, the new feature is an app aimed at the company’s search engine, with integrated Artificial Intelligence mode. On Mac, the application is dedicated to Gemini, Google’s AI model.
On Windows, the launch comes after months of testing that began in September last year, when the company began experimenting with an application with AI mode on the system. Now, after adjustments and improvements, the version has been released to the public, although it is still only available in English.
The Google Windows app allows the user to search based on what is displayed on the screen or in a specific window. AI mode offers additional information about the content viewed.
Another highlight is the possibility of quickly activating the app using a shortcut. When you press Alt+Space, a small window appears on the screen, allowing you to ask questions and perform searches in a practical way.
On Mac, the application is completely focused on Gemini and works as a digital assistant, accompanying the user while they browse the internet or work on files stored on the computer itself.
The Mac version also gives access to features such as Nano Banana and Veo, allowing you to create images and videos using Artificial Intelligence.
In an official statement, Google stated that it is “building the foundation for a truly personal, proactive and powerful desktop assistant” and indicated that new features should be announced in the coming months.
Additionally, the company said it is strengthening protections related to mental health at Gemini. Among the changes is a “redesigned module” that can direct users to “specialized crisis support services” if the AI identifies signs of emotional distress.
