NC, formerly known as NCSOFT, announced a change in its communications strategy AION 2. From now on, development videos (Dev Videos), which were previously only aimed at the South Korean and Taiwanese markets, will be released globally, allowing players from different regions to follow the MMORPG’s news before its launch.
The initiative was announced after events held in Los Angeles and Seoul to present the game and is part of the preparations for the world premiere of AION 2scheduled for September on PC, via Steam and the PURPLE platform.
Developers want to bring the global community closer
The first video of the new phase brings together game director Nam-Joon Kim, global publishing director In-Sub So and executive producer Merv Lee Kwai. During the presentation, the team comments on various aspects of the project, including:
- The connection between the history of AION original and AION 2;
- The design philosophy of the new MMORPG;
- New gameplay features;
- Plans to support the game after launch.
According to NC, the proposal is to maintain a constant communication channel with the global community throughout development.
Aerial combat remains one of the main differentiators
Among the highlights presented by the team is the return of the free flight system, one of the most striking features of the franchise. According to the developers, AION 2 will feature:
- Fully 3D flight;
- Dynamic aerial combat;
- More than 200 dungeons;
- Advanced character creation system;
- Various wing models;
- Pets that also function as mounts.
The team also states that the new title will bring improvements to both PvE content and PvP disputes compared to the original game.
Atreia will be expanded in the sequel
The story of AION 2 It will take place again in Atreia, a universe known to fans of the franchise. According to Nam-Joon Kim, the new game will allow veterans and new players to explore an expanded version of this world.
“Whether you are a new player or a returning player, you will be able to discover firsthand the charm that the world of Atreia holds. The stage for all these experiences is a newly expanded Atreia,” said the director.
NC promises frequent updates until launch
The publisher also said it will continue to release new development videos and progress updates as the launch approaches.
