The Amazon and Anthropic announced that they will expand their partnership with new billion-dollar agreements aimed at developing artificial intelligence.

According to the international press, Amazon invested another US$5 billion in Anthropic, an amount that adds to the approximately US$8 billion already invested previously. The company also reported that it could invest up to another US$20 billion in the startup, as long as certain performance targets are met.

On the other hand, San Francisco-based Anthropic said it intends to invest more than US$100 billion in Amazon Web Services (AWS) technology over the next decade, with the aim of accelerating the development of artificial intelligence solutions.

“We need to build infrastructure to keep up with growing demand,” Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei said in a statement. “Our collaboration with Amazon will allow us to continue advancing AI research while delivering Claude to our customers.”

Claude is an artificial intelligence assistant developed by Anthropic, which works similar to ChatGPT.

The new agreements come after the disclosure, in January, that Amazon was also considering investing more than €40 billion in OpenAI, Anthropic’s direct competitor in the sector.

Microsoft’s billion-dollar investment aims to expand AI infrastructure and training in Singapore. Strategy includes training, strengthening digital security and expanding data centers, following the growing global demand for technology and computing power.
