The National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) announced this Wednesday, 22, the approval of financing worth R$300 million to support the 2026-2028 Innovation Plan of Positivo Tecnologia – a Big Tech that was born and maintains its administrative headquarters in Curitiba. The objective is to accelerate the growth strategy through cutting-edge research and development, incorporate artificial intelligence into products and services and intensify advances in the company’s manufacturing processes and sustainable governance with initiatives aligned with Industry 5.0.
The amount approved by the Bank, through the BNDES Mais Inovação Program, represents 96% of the total value of R$311.75 million. The other R$11.75 million will be the Company’s own resources. Investments will be directed to strategies and operations at the headquarters, in Curitiba (PR), as well as at the industrial units in Manaus (AM) and Ilhéus (BA).
The investments will be divided into two fronts, the first focused on innovation and AI for the market, with an expansion of the portfolio of products and solutions for the consumer (B2C) and commercial (B2B) sectors.
Positivo will launch solutions to accelerate AI learning
In the consumer segment, the main highlight is the search for the democratization of artificial intelligence in the daily lives of Brazilians through the launch of new solutions, such as the intelligent assistant My Artificial Intelligence, a solution designed to accelerate the user’s learning of AI, and Control Center, Positivo’s new intelligent device performance management platform.
In the commercial sector, aimed at the corporate market and the public sector, investments are focused on accelerating the company’s business diversification strategy and offering the most modern products, services and IT infrastructure solutions for the Brazilian market, with emphasis on innovations in the HaaS (Hardware as a Service) contract management platform and the evolution of the Biometric Kit to make digital identification more agile and human.
The plan also reinforces expansion in payment, security and education solutions, other pillars of the company’s diversification strategy. The second front focuses on advancing towards Industry 5.0. The goal is to optimize manufacturing, logistics and sustainability processes with the use of AI agents to ensure maximum operational efficiency, as well as sustainable governance.
The president of BNDES, Aloizio Mercadante, highlights the strategic role of the investment: “These are initiatives in line with the industrial policy of President Lula’s government, which has as one of its objectives the increase in the participation of national companies in the digital platforms segment. Furthermore, BNDES support contributes to the development of new technologies in the country and to increasing the productivity of a relevant player in Brazilian industry.”
For Hélio Bruck Rotenberg, president and one of the founders of Positivo Tecnologia, the financing marks an important step in the execution of the long-term strategy.
“This is, without a doubt, a very special moment in these 36 years of history and a new chapter for our Company. We closely follow market transformations and have become experts in transforming challenging moments into great opportunities. The arrival of this investment expands our ability to invest with speed and scale in innovation so that we can democratize access to AI and bring even more benefits to millions of Brazilians. BNDES’ support will strengthen competitiveness and accelerate the continuous evolution of Positivo Tecnologia as an integrated and unique provider in Brazil of IT infrastructure products, services and solutions.”
Positivo Tecnologia invests part of its revenue in research and development
At the forefront of the sector, Positivo Tecnologia invests around 4% of its annual net revenue in research and development activities. The expectation is that the new innovation plan will contribute to the creation of 50 direct jobs as engineering, information technology and artificial intelligence professionals. The project also contributes to boosting partnerships with reference research institutions in Brazil (CITS in Curitiba, Fundação Paulo Feitosa and INDT in Manaus and with the Feral Universities of Bahia and Goiás, among others) and the development of new intellectual and industrial property patents.
