A Brazilian delegation led by the Minister of Culture, Margareth Menezes, participated in China in an agenda to deepen cultural cooperation between the two countries. Sebrae was represented by Moisés Araya, analyst from the International Advisory Unit, during the visit that is part of the Brazil–China 2026 Cultural Year program.

The delegation traveled at the end of April to participate in the JZ Spring Festival, in Shanghai, within the scope of the Technical Cooperation Agreement between Sebrae and the Ministry of Culture (MinC). One of the main instrumental and contemporary music festivals in Asia, the event brings together agents from the international cultural market, producers, festival programmers, opinion makers and representatives of the Chinese creative industry, configuring a strategic environment for insertion of Brazilian small businesses in the creative economy in the Asian market.

Margareth Menezes met with the Shanghai Municipal Secretary of Culture and Tourism, Zhong Xiaomin, in a meeting that highlighted the mutual interest in deepening partnerships, with a focus on innovation, cultural sustainability and global integration. “It is a solid and expanding partnership, with great potential for cooperation in areas such as creative economy, artistic exchange, cultural training and development of cultural and creative industries”, said the minister.

“The Brazil-China Cultural Year goes beyond the celebration of cultural diversity, opening doors for the construction of economic bridges and the promotion of development”, highlighted Moisés Araya. “Sebrae supports entrepreneurs in all phases of their business, including internationalization, and wants to enable small Brazilian businesses, including those in the cultural area, to find opportunities in China”, he added.

This was the largest Latin American artistic delegation ever sent to Asiawith the aim not only of promoting Brazilian culture, but also of opening markets for Brazilian art.

Technical cooperation

Sebrae is a signatory to a Technical Cooperation Agreement with the Ministry of Culture (MinC), aimed at implementing structured cultural diplomacy actions and internationalization of the Brazilian creative economy, especially in the city of Shanghai.

One of the largest global cultural hubs, especially in the areas of contemporary art, science and cultural innovation, Shanghai has a robust local cultural infrastructure, which includes more than 170 museums, 135 theaters and 25 libraries.
