An advertisement for a compact system with SteamOS started to circulate on Reddit this week, listing desktop hardware with Ryzen 5 5500 and Radeon RX 6750 GRE put ¥4,680 (Chinese Yuan, around R$ 3,563.64) in the version 2TB, value lower than the sum of the individual components.
Who is behind the ad and where did it come from?
The listing appeared in dedicated Reddit communities hardware and gamingwithout clear identification of the seller.
The ad text promises a compact PC with SteamOS and graphics AMD desktop level, but the image used shows a white mini PC with a similar design to the UBox from the manufacturer CHUWIwhich uses hardware with Mobile APU with Radeon graphics integrated and is not compatible with discrete graphics cards.
What the ad promises and why setting it up is technically impossible
The specification listed in the advertisement includes processedr AMD Ryzen 5 5500video card Radeon RX 6750 GRE of 10GB, 16GB DDR5 memory, JGINYUE B350I-PLUS motherboard and M.2 NVMe storage.
The first unavoidable technical problem It’s in the combination between processor and memory. THE Ryzen 5 5500 uses the socket AM4an architecture that does not support DDR5 memories, only DDR4.
The second inconsistency is in the graphics card part. The Radeon RX 6750 GRE is a desktop GPU, with a dual-slot, dual-fan design.
THE cabinet displayed in the ad image, compatible with the format of the CHUWI UBoxworks exclusively with integrated mobile hardware and does not have the physical space to accommodate a card of this size.
The calculation of the components reveals an unsustainable sales value
One price analysis on Chinese platformswith data collected in the same communities in which the advertisement circulated, exposes the financial unfeasibility of the offer.
THE 10GB Radeon RX 6750 GRE GPU cheapest found costs ¥1,859 (~ R$ 1,415.56). One 2TB PCIe 3.0 SSD part of approximately ¥1,199 (~ R$ 912.99).
THE 16 GB DDR4 memory kit costs around ¥449 (~ R$341.90), while the processor Ryzen 5 5500 It costs around ¥600 (~ R$456.88). The JGINYUE B350I-PLUS motherboard is listed for approximately ¥268 (~R$204.07).
Added together, these five items already reach approximately ¥4,375 (~ R$3,331.40). Add a 400W to 450W flex power supply exceeds the total amount requested by the seller.
They are still left out cabinet, processor cooler, assembly, seller’s margin, freight and guarantee. The package also does not include the control that appears in the promotional photo.

When the configuration would be physically possible
The same set of hardware can be mounted on a Traditional Small Form Factor PCas long as you use DDR4 memory and a cabinet with enough space to accommodate the Desktop RX 6750 GRE. The ultra-compact format shown in the image, however, eliminates this possibility.

The context of attempts to clone Valve’s format
Several Steam Machine clones have emerged in recent years, trying to match the specs and price of Valve’s hardware, but the determining factor remains the physical format.
The project of Valve uses a completely customized motherboard, with CPU and GPU integrated into a single board, a solution that no other manufacturer has managed to replicate on a commercial scale while maintaining the same dimensions.
Place the ITX format in a similar volume requires engineering outside conventional standards. Enthusiast Jacob Terkelsen’s custom project is one of the few examples exploring this route with creative internal positioning solutions.
So, to closethe message here is clear: Be careful with ads that promise too much, but are actually a misleading designwithout a foot or a head, like the Chinese PC listed in this article.
Alright, the Steam Machine is expensivebut achieving a machine as compact as it is is not an easily replicable task.
