Last week we had the news that Sony did not approve the development of Destiny 3. On the contrary, the producer was planning layoffs for the Bungie studio and a total focus on Marathon. The information has not yet been confirmed, but Destiny 2 players are already mobilizing to try to prevent the end of the franchise.
A petition has been started on the website Change.org to show support for the franchise. The petition already has 139,241 at the time we posted this news. Campaign creator Harley Casto says players “believe in Destiny 3’s potential to inspire new generations of players to keep the flame of the Guardian spirit alive.”
Several comments were made by supporters, reporting their personal experiences with the series. The most voted is from a player who claims to be a fan of Destiny since its first alpha, in 2014, and who has never missed a single expansion of the game, generally investing in its more expensive versions to get all the content.
Destiny 2 players organize massive log in
While the undersigned seeks more signatures, Reddit Destiny 2 players recognize that the game is being left aside to prioritize Marathon. Therefore, Bungie’s new game has become a direct rival for the continuity of your favorite franchise.

To show Sony how popular Destiny 2 would still be, its players are organizing a massive log in for June 9th. The goal is to greatly surpass the record number of Marathon players to date.
Sony does not release frequently updated numbers for players of its PlayStation titles. On Steam, at least, we can see that the highest simultaneous number ever achieved by Marathon was 88,337 people, while Destiny 2 reached 316,750 three years ago.
