Instagram prepares change that could end annoying error in Stories

Instagram is testing a new feature that could put an end to one of the most common problems users face in Stories: the need to delete an entire post because of a typing or editing error.

According to information released by social media consultant Matt Navarra on the social network X, the platform has started to release a function that allows you to edit Stories that have already been published.

The new feature, for now, would only be available to a limited group of iPhone users and is being released gradually. The expectation is that, in the future, the feature will also reach Android devices.

Despite the change, the tool will not work exactly like a traditional edition. When modifying an already published Story, the original version will be automatically deleted, including all likes, reactions and comments received.

“As soon as you start editing, the original version of this Story will be deleted. All likes, reactions and comments received will also be removed”, informs the warning displayed by Instagram during the test of the function.

In practice, the feature will allow you to reuse the original Story as a base, without having to create the entire publication again from scratch.

It is not yet clear which elements may be changed. Instagram has not confirmed whether users will be able to edit just texts and captions or also modify stickers, emojis, links, markings and other visual resources.

So far, the company has not officially announced when the tool will be available to all users.

Meta ended end-to-end encryption on Instagram messages, allowing access to the content of conversations through the platform. Change reignites debate about privacy, content moderation, use of data for AI and pressure from authorities for greater control over private messages.
