Apple is expected to officially present iOS 27 next week, during the opening conference of WWDC 2026. Among the new features expected for the next major iPhone update is a feature aimed at sharing expenses between friends directly through the Wallet app.
According to information released by journalist Mark Gurman, from Bloomberg, the tool will allow users to photograph a bill, such as that of a restaurant, and distribute the amount among different people. The system would automatically generate payment requests, which could be sent to iPhones, iPads and Apple Watches.
Although similar features already exist in third-party applications, the new feature would be integrated into the Apple ecosystem, facilitating the sharing of expenses without the need to install other services.
The Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) takes place between June 8th and 12th, at Apple Park, the company’s headquarters in California.
Artificial intelligence should be a highlight of iOS 27
In addition to improvements to Wallet, iOS 27 is expected to have a strong focus on artificial intelligence features, expanding the capabilities of the Apple Intelligence platform.
The update should be presented during WWDC, but its official launch is only expected in the second half of the year, close to the arrival of the new generation of iPhones.
European Union may gain exclusive resource
Another new feature that could arrive with iOS 27 involves the way Apple devices transmit content to televisions, speakers and other compatible devices.
According to Gurman, the company is considering allowing users to choose alternatives to AirPlay as the default media transmission system. The measure would meet the requirements of the European Union’s Digital Markets Law, which seeks to increase competition between digital platforms.
If implemented, the change would allow using services such as Google Cast, formerly Chromecast, to transmit videos, photos and music from Apple devices.
The novelty, however, may be restricted to European Union countries. So far, Apple has not said whether the feature will also be available in other markets.
