MSI this week presented a new version of its VERSA 300 mouse, which takes the wireless peripheral’s polling to 8,000Hz. That’s why the new model even includes the difference in the name, and can be found as MSI VERSA 300 Wireless 8K Gaming Mouse in stores.
In addition to the updated polling, the new mouse does not have many differences compared to its Elite version, presented in 2024. Even the weight has increased by just 1g, reaching 66g. It also now has a white variant.
Being a wireless mouse, the new VERSA 300 Wireless 8K connects with a 2.4G Wi-Fi dongle, using MSI SwiftSpeed technology. It can also be used with the cable while recharging, but the manufacturer promises 196 hours of autonomy per charge.
While updating polling, the peripheral maintains the PixArt PAW3395 sensor, with up to 26,000 DPI. MSI also highlights that the grip has a surface with a textured pattern that helps to provide a firm grip for the user.
MSI highlights Portal X for configuring the mouse
The VERSA 300 Wireless 8K, like other MSI peripherals, is compatible with its dedicated control software, as well as Portal X, the brand’s new platform that allows you to customize your products directly through the browser. The website was introduced last year, and the company highlights its use for the new mouse too, making it easy to set up without needing to install an app.
Finally, it is worth mentioning that the new version of the mouse also maintains its OMRON switches, with an estimated longevity of 60 million clicks.
As usual for MSI announcements of new products of this type, the company did not disclose a suggested price for the mouse. However, to get an approximate idea, the original VERSA 300, with 1,000Hz polling, can be found for $256 at the moment.
