New State of Decay 3 preview reveals improved multiplayer

Although State of Decay 3 does not have a set release date, selected players have been able to check out the news prepared by Undead Labs for some time now. Among them is YouTuber Brian Menard, who has just released a new preview detailing the game’s online systems.

One of the first new features is that, unlike its predecessor, the new chapter will not limit the maximum distance between its players. In other words, although it is recommended that members of a group walk together, nothing will prevent one person from separating and deciding to explore a location on the other side of the map alone.

State of Decay 3 will also break barriers when it comes to managing and sharing communities. When joining a friend’s game, you will be able to control any member of your community, as well as have access to resources and weapons that have already been accumulated.

State of Decay 3 wants to be truly cooperative

The change was made to encourage the creation of closed groups and that treat State of Decay 3 in a more collective way. The new chapter in the series wants to make players feel that they are truly part of a community of survivors, and are no longer mere visitors to the worlds created by their friends.

Furthermore, the game will work with persistent worlds that do not depend on several people being online to continue to evolve. In other words, as long as your companions continue playing and developing your community, it can be very different between the time you leave the experience and the time you return to it.

State of Decay 3 will also allow each person to maintain three different settlements, instead of the only one offered in the previous version. Thus, it will be possible to manage up to 36 survivors per map — which should serve as an additional incentive to join friends.

To top it off, Mernard states that the sequel will bring more specialties to the survivors, who will begin to fulfill more dedicated roles. As a result, they should make base maintenance easier and require a little less micromanagement of each of their characteristics.
