Marvel’s Wolverine will not have open world elements

Gamer

After Imsoniac proved with Marvel’s Spider-Man that it can make good open worlds, many of its fans expected it to repeat the formula with Marvel’s Wolverine. However, that will not be the case. In an interview with IGN, the company explained that His goal with the game was always to deliver a more linear experience.

What we really wanted was a linear single-player adventure packed with action and intrigue, and the missions reflect that in their structure“, explained director Mike Daly. He also argued that this was the best way the developer found to build a journey that made sense for its protagonist.

Daly explains that Marvel’s Wolverine captures the essence of Logan who, in his individual stories, usually travels to different parts of the world. Therefore, it made more sense to bet on an adventure with linear progression rather than a large open world that concentrates the different events of the story in one location, however large it may be.

Marvel’s Wolverine promises some freedom of action

Although the structure of Marvel’s Wolverine will be different from Insomniac’s previous hero games, some elements of them have been preserved. Just like in Marvel’s Spider-Man, the protagonist of the new story you will be able to decide whether to use stealth or engage in open-heart combat.

According to Daly, the gameplay snippets shown during the most recent State of Play broadcast are quite representative of the experience offered by the final version. However, it should also offer some diversions from the main path, where you can find collectibles and other secrets.

Insomniac promises that Marvel’s Wolverine will not repeat the same basic structure in all of its phases. While the game’s focus will be on action and fighting enemies, there will also be more investigative sections and places in which interaction with other characters is the focus of the experience.

Scheduled to premiere on September 15th, the game will introduce Logan fans to a new universe, in which the X-Men do not exist. However, rumors indicate that the formation of the group is only a matter of time and that the studio should also develop a title based on it.
